INDUSTRY — Voters at town meeting Saturday supported the development of a wind-power moratorium ordinance.
The Planning Board will form a subcommittee to develop the ordinance and will include citizens who are interested, Town Clerk Angeline Davis said.
The town has six months to develop a wind-power siting ordinance to set guidelines for where turbines can be set up in town, now that it has met voter approval.
Nearly 50 residents gathered and passed a budget of $384,571 to run the town’s business, she said. Although the proposed budget of $385,338 was $595 higher than last year’s, voters decided not to fund a $817 request from the American Red Cross, bringing the total budget down by that amount.
The wind-power moratorium and the American Red Cross request caused the most discussion, she said.
A couple of questions were raised about plans for summer road work. Some money is being carried over from the winter roads account to this year’s budget, due to a mild winter.
Other articles passed without a lot of discussion, Davis said.
Selectman Robert Geisser was elected to another three-year term, as was RSU 9 Director Mark Prentiss. Both ran unopposed.
