PARIS — Trapeze artists, hoop dancers, jugglers, stilt walkers — and giant, whimsical animal puppets.

That’s what Circus Ole! And Feast of Fools — featuring theatrical puppets created by Trash Into Art and performers from Portland, Bangor, western Maine and Boston — will bring to the stage Saturday, March 31, at Four Seasons Conference Center.

The event, which includes a lion tamer, snake charmer, frog man and lots of silly fun with “animals,” raises awareness about the mistreatment of circus animals. It  is a Passionate Creations production put on by Creative Media, the Mahoosuc Arts Council and the conference center.

Donations will be accepted for In Defense of Animals, a nonprofit that helps support sanctuaries for retired and injured circus animals.

Among the circus performers are the Gypsy Relics with their Middle Eastern dance jazzed up with a little theater and zany fun; the Apparatus Dance Theater of Portland, which specializes in aerial dance and flying theater;  juggler and performance artist Shane Miclon, who hails from the Buckfield Odd Fellow Theater community; Casual Arcane, aka Sennyo and Riel Green, front-runners in the worldwide art form of Buugeng, an optical illusion performance tool shaped like an S; Miss Bliss, who may ride an elephant, fall from the ceiling or sing in the shower with a fruit basket on her head; and the Navaeh Dance Company.

Circus Ole! And Feast of Fools will run from 7 to 9 p.m. Tickets are $8 for adults, $6 for children 12 and under at the Maine Bookhouse in Oxford and at the Fareshare Market in Norway. Tickets at the door: $10/$8. The Four Seasons Conference Center is at 187 Main St.
