MEXICO — The Police Department responded to 26 calls during the past week.
Assault
An assault on a 23-year-old Rangeley man was reported at 3:16 p.m. March 9 in the parking lot of the Subway restaurant on Main Street. Lt. Roy Hodsdon said a teen about 18 years old with dark hair and facial hair and wearing jeans and a dark hoodie attacked the man and fled.
With the man was a girl about the same age with a neon green backpack.
The victim drove himself to Rumford Hospital where he was treated for facial injuries. Anyone with information about the assailant and the young woman is asked to contact the Police Department at 364-5686.
Theft
A Walmart employee reported the theft of $1,000 worth of electronics at 2 p.m. March 8. Police have a suspect.
Hodsdon said several felony theft cases from Walmart that have taken place during the past couple of months are under investigation. He said the value of the stolen electronics is more than $5,000.
In a related matter, two iPods stolen from a vehicle last month have been recovered.
