AUBURN — Theresa Gill Bouchard, 91, a lifelong resident of Auburn, died in Auburn, Saturday, March 10, at the Androscoggin Hospice House. She had been a resident of the Chapman House in Auburn since 2006.
She was born in Auburn, Oct. 7, 1920, the daughter of Arthur and Alice Dionne Gill, and raised in New Auburn and St. Louis Parish. In 1947, she married Gerard E. Bouchard, a veteran of World War II, who became proprietor of Gerry’s Weatherstrip Service. Mr. Bouchard died in 1995.
Terry, as she was known, was employed at the Bates Mill for several years, and then she worked at Shapiro’s shoe shop in Auburn and Knapp Shoe in Lewiston. Her greatest joys in life came from her family and wide circle of friends. She especially took tremendous joy and pride in her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
After arriving at the Chapman House in 2006, she quickly adopted the staff there as part of her extended family.
Survivors include her sister, Dolores Lewis of Lewiston; her son, Tom, and his wife, Margi, of Lisbon and their children, Chad Bouchard of Washington, D.C., Matt Roberge of Richmond and Alison Douglass of Sabattus; her daughter, Alice Steward and husband, Mike, of Burke, Va., and their daughter, Nicole Shiraev of Seattle, Wash.; and great-grandchildren, Gwen and Elliot Douglass of Sabattus, Brendan Roberge of Richmond and Alexander Shiraev of Seattle, Wash.
Terry was predeceased by her husband, Gerry; her son, Jamie; and her sister, Ruth Genesse.
