LEWISTON — The Maine Games is accepting applications online for the sixth annual National Anthem Audition, to be held beginning at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 14, at the Kora Shrine Temple.
The vocalist will have the opportunity to represent America and the Maine Games at events all over Maine, including select Maine Games events, the Maine Shrine Lobster Bowl, a Portland Seadogs Game and other events throughout the year.
There is no cost to apply, but all singers must submit an online application, and if chosen, they will become one of 25 to 30 singers invited to perform “The Star Spangled Banner” before a panel of judges in the ballroom at the Kora Temple.
Audition winner will also receive a recording session in South Portland, courtesy of Blue Wave Creative Studios, where they will be able to have their version of “The Star Spangled Banner” and “God Bless America” professionally recorded and mixed. They will also have a photo shoot with the Maine Games official photographer, R. Steven Sharp, to create a portfolio for promotion.
