FARMINGTON — Norwood R. Farrington, 70, a resident of Warren Hill, Jay, passed away Thursday, March 15, at Sandy River Center, following a 6-year battle with cancer.
He was born Feb. 6, 1942, in Livermore Falls, the son of Wallace and Muriel (Smith) Farrington. Norwood attended school in Jay.
On Oct. 22, 1960, in Livermore Falls, he married his wife of 51 years, Beatrice “Beady” Atkinson of Livermore. Norwood owned and operated Farrington Farms in East Jay; and later went to work for Jay School Department in the transportation department, retiring in 2000.
Norwood was a member of National Rifle Association (NRA). Norwood and Beady owned a camp in Eustis for 20 years; where he enjoyed hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife, Beatrice “Beady” Farrington of Jay; his son, Frank E. Farrington and his wife, Kim, of Jay; his grandchildren, Jennifer Farrington of Gardiner and Tanya Farrington–Thomason and her husband, Luke, of Jay; his brothers, Bert Farrington and his wife, Priscilla, of Jay and Erland Farrington and his wife, Cheryl, of Jay; his sisters-in-law, Carolyn Farrington of Norridgewock, Janice Farrington and April Pomerleau, both of Jay; and his brother-in-law, David Atkinson and his companion, Sheila Smith, of Canton.
He was predeceased by his parents; and his brother, Rodney Farrington.
