BRUNSWICK — Joanne H. Couture, 82, of Bowdoin, died Friday afternoon, March 16, at Mid Coast Hospital.

She was born in Lisbon Falls on Dec. 25, 1929, a daughter of Andrew and Helen Cummings Byras.

She was educated in local schools and married George F. Couture Sr. on Nov. 3, 1945, and later raised her family.

Of the many things Joanne enjoyed doing, she specifically liked canning, taking trips to Foxwoods, going out to eat, caring for and growing flowers around the house, and sitting in the sun. She loved her grandchildren and her cat, “Kitty.”

She is survived by her husband of 66 years; sons, George M. and wife, Linda, Greg and wife, Candy, Mark and wife, Lisa, and Glen and wife, Nicky; daughter, Diane and husband, Gene; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; brothers, George David Byras and Dennis Byras; and sister-in-law, Ernistein Byras.

Joanne was predeceased by her daughter, Carolyn Johnson; granddaughter, Denise Burpee; sister, Doris Gerlek and husband, Mike; and by brothers, Kenneth Byras and his wife, Helen, and Junior and William Byras.
