Seniors dinner

AUBURN — First Auburn Seniors will meet at 11 a.m. Wednesday, March 21, at the Hasty Community Center. President Don Nason will conduct the meeting. Members should bring cups and utensils for the New England boiled dinner.

On March 7, 59 members attended the meeting. Pot of gold winner was Barbara Hinkley, George Brainerd and Pat Donahue; attendance, Ann Gavel and John Watson; special drawings, Helen Merrow, Alta Giasson and Letha Haggerty.

Members welcomed Marilyn Gagnon, Barbara Willis and Jane Mower as new members.

The annual food auction will be held Wednesday, April 4. Meal tickets will be on sale for the lasagna dinner on April 18. Cost is $5.

AUBURN — CWA Night will be observed by Danville Junction Grange on Thursday, March 22, when members meet for supper at 6 p.m. at the grange.

The business meeting will start at 7 p.m. with guest officers filling the chairs. Auburn Police Chief Phillip Crowell will be the guest speaker and will talk on “Human Trafficking.”

Members are reminded to have their apple squares for the cooking contest there by 5:45. All members and guests are welcome.

Hippity-Hoppity Fair

POLAND — A Hippity-Hoppity Fair will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, March 24, at Poland Community Church.

Items and activities will include a silent auction, bike raffle, quilt raffle, Easter specials, children’s activities, baked goods, homemade candy and twice nice. A luncheon will be available from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Proceeds will benefit the food bank.

Donations will be received Wednesdays and Saturdays from March 3 to March 24.

Class auction

TURNER — Leavitt Area High School cafeteria will be the site of this year’s auction to benefit the Class of 2012 Project Graduation. The fundraising event will takes place on Saturday, March 24, with a preview at 9 a.m. and first call at 10 a.m.

Items will include vouchers for tree removal, firewood, pool water, tanning, meals, golf, vehicle care, a scuba class for two, orthopedic services, recording studio time and an overnight hotel stay with breakfast; tickets to the theater, cinema, Santa’s Village, Red Sox, Portland Pirates and the Downeaster; and articles ranging from a child-size table and chairs to baked goods to a Corian bathroom sink top.

Of particular interest to NBA followers are items autographed by Mario Chalmers and Jimmer Fredette. In addition, there will be a variety of theme baskets on display for raffle during the next few weeks and a silent auction.

The Auction Café will offer breakfast and lunch fare.

Seniors trip

LEWISTON — Lewiston Senior Citizens will sponsor an eight-day trip, four days to Disney World and four days on a cruise on the Royal Caribbean “Monarch of the Sea”, from Sept. 28 to Oct. 5.

Informational sessions will be conducted at 1:30 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, and at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 3, at the Multi-Purpose Center, Birch Street.

Cribbage results

LEWISTON — The Lewiston Senior Citizens Cribbage League winners at the Multi-Purpose Center on March 15 were: first, Dick Dennis and Jerry Taylor; second, Pat Records and Don Haley; third, Moe Fournier and Ron Hynes; fourth, Mike Martin and Gary David; fifth, Edith Chambers and Robert Oliver.
