RUMFORD — Joyce E. Dayon, 79, of Rumford passed away peacefully with her family by her side on Sunday, March 18, at her home.

She was born June 14, 1932, in Shirley Mills, the daughter of Norman E. and Reine (Brackett) Beckwith. She was a graduate of Rangeley High School.

Joyce worked many years as a waitress in Rangeley and Rumford. After having children, she became a devoted homemaker. She was a communicant of the Parish of the Holy Savior. Joyce loved to knit, bowl, play cards, dance and in her younger years, snow machining and skiing. She enjoyed many summers camping in Rangeley with her brothers, Bernard Beckwith and wife, Janet of Dover-Foxcroft, Kenwood Beckwith of Alaska, Norman A. (Sonny) Beckwith and wife, Mona, of Sangerville, as well as their families. The times that she most cherished were being with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

On October 16, 1951, she married Robert J. Dayon in Portsmouth, N.H.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 60 years, Bob of Rumford; sons, Kenn Dayon and wife, Linda, of Peru and Gregg Dayon and wife, Cindy, of Lewiston; daughters in heart, Jamie Violette of Turner and Linda Howe of Bethel; grandchildren, Troy Dayon and his wife, Elizabeth, of Portsmouth, N.H., Adam Dayon of Greenwich, Conn., Sara Gordon and husband, Gabe, of Arundel, Kristin Harris and husband, Christopher, of Portland, Tristin Dayon of Lewiston and Tasia Dayon of Lewiston; six great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews; and goddaughter, Tracy Arsenault of Peru.

The family would like to extend a special thank-you to Nicky Hosie of Androscoggin Home Hospice and all other people who were there to help her over the past few months.
