LEWISTON — Normand R. Fournier, 70, of 23 Wakefield St., Lewiston, died at his home on Saturday, March 17, following a brief illness.

He was born in Lewiston, May 22, 1941, the son of Emery and Cecile Larochelle Fournier. Educated in local schools, he was a graduate of St. Dominic High School, Class of 1960. He went on to earn a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of Maine, Orono, and also graduated from their pulp and paper program.

On June 6, 1964, he married the former Lorraine E. Nadeau at Saints Peter and Paul Church and they made their home in Lewiston. He worked for many years as vice president of Gerard Construction and later was president of Reliable Home Improvement Center.

A parishioner of the former St. Joseph Church, he also was a Fourth Degree Knight of the Knights of Columbus, Council 106. He was also an Eagle Scout and was in the Army ROTC program while at Orono.

Besides his loving wife of Lewiston, he is survived by two sons, Roland and wife, Mary Ann, of Tyngsboro, Mass., and Tim Fournier of Lewiston; a daughter, Irene and husband, Michael Babine, of Lewiston; two sisters, Jeanne Lessard of Lewiston and Carol and husband, Les “Jocko” Emerson, of Yarmouth; nine grandchildren, Nicole Babine, Holly Bruns, Shauna Babine, Timothy Fournier, Christopher Fournier, Mark Obie, Cassidy Fournier, Catie Fournier and Carley Fournier; and a great-granddaughter, Jocelyn Dreher.
