JAY — Students and staff at Spruce Mountain Middle School are preparing for the biggest fundraiser of the year. Thousands of dollars in prizes and donations have been collected. Two raffle items are valued at nearly $3,000 each.

“Come on down” will be heard numerous times during the Price Is Right show at 6 p.m. on Saturday, March 31, in the school gym. Doors open at 4:30 p.m. Tickets are $6 in advance and are available at each of the RSU 73 school offices. Tickets will also be available at the door, Principal Scott Albert said Wednesday. For more information call the middle school at 897-4319.

Q97.9 morning radio show host Jeff Parsons will star in the event.

This is the first combined show since Jay, Livermore and Livermore Falls students and staff have come together under the merged school systems.

The event was a hit for several years at Livermore Falls Middle School and raised the bulk of the money for the eighth-grade trip to Boston and benefited grades six and seven as well.

The proceeds will go toward the same purpose this year.

More than 20 different items will be raffled and about 15 items will be up for bid at the silent auction, Albert said.

There have been $14,000 in donated prizes, he said.

Students will assist during the event.

All high school students and adults can play.

There will be food concessions, kids prizes, a 50-50 raffle and extra chances during the event.

“We have some wonderful prizes to raffle,” Albert said.

Those include a $2,995 wood stove donated by Don’s Stove Shop of Livermore and a chance for a child to go Camp Waziyatah in Waterford for two weeks. It is valued at $2,950, he said.
