JAY — A resident reported Wednesday morning that tools, a ladder and fuel were stolen from a barn on East Jay Road, officer Steve Smith said. The items are valued at more than $1,000.
The items were stolen between 9:30 p.m. Tuesday and 6 a.m. Wednesday while the residents were sleeping. The barn is close to the home.
Smith and Detective Richard Caton IV collected evidence that will be processed.
Anyone who has information on the burglary is asked to call the Jay Police Department at 897-6766.
If people have expensive items, they should write down serial numbers to help police in their investigations if they are stolen, Caton said.
The serial number will help identify the item as belonging to the person from whom it was stolen, he said.
