AUBURN — 2011 Edward Little High School graduates Emily Ranucci and Jennifer Rioux each received a $500 Auburn Ski Association Scholarship from association president Eric Howes at Lost Valley on Dec. 28. The annual ASA Scholarships are announced at the June graduation, and are awarded after the recipients successfully complete their first semester of college.
Ranucci was a four-year member of the Edward Little Nordic team. She placed eighth at the 2011 Class A State meet in both the classic and skate events. She also placed 10th in both events at the 2011 Kennebec Valley Athletic Conference race. She is majoring in biochemistry (pre-pharmacy) at the University of Maine at Orono. She is a member of UMO’s Nordic Ski Club.
Rioux was a four-year member of the Edward Little alpine team. She attends Smith College in Northhampton, Mass., where she is playing hockey and is a member of the Smith ski team.
At the 2011 Class A State meet in Mars Hill the Edward Little High School girls Nordic and alpine teams both finished second overall.
