The Western Maine Labor Council hosted its second Legislative Breakfast at the Green Ladle in Lewiston. Close to 125 attended, including Sen. Margaret Craven, Rep. Peggy Rotundo, Rep. Mike Clark, Sen. John Patrick, Rep. Richard Wagner and Rep. Sheryl Briggs. Rep. Mike Michaud gave an opening speech. After breakfast prepared by the culinary arts student, WMLC President Don Bilodeau thanked all. The group raised $316 for the culinary arts scholarship program. The audience heard from Raymond Carrier and Karen Bilodeau. Carrier, on long-term disability due to a workplace accident, urged Maine lawmakers not to gut the Workers Compensation system as planned under LD 1571. Bilodeau explained some of the provisions of the bill.
