AUBURN — Funeral services honoring the life of Pfc. Nathaniel J. Ollis were held Friday from the Memorial Chapel of Dillingham & Son with U.S. Army Chaplain Earl Weigelt officiating. During the service, the presentation of Army Achievement Medal Certificates were presented to the family by State Command Warrant Officer Darrell A. Stevens. The presentation of Maine Silver and Bronze Star Awards were presented to the family by State Command Sergeant Major Terrence W. Harris. After which Nate’s daughter, Willow, sang “Boss DJ” which she always used to sing with her Dad. Words of remembrance were shared by family friend, Kristina Benson. Following a procession to the cemetery, the Auburn Police, Mechanic Falls Police, Bridgton Police, Cumberland County Sheriff’s Office and the Oxford County Sheriff’s office along with the Patriot Guard Motorcycle Riders escorted the funeral procession from Auburn to Forrest Hills Cemetery Annex in Bridgton. Upon arrival, Chaplain Weigelt recited committal prayers after which the U.S. Army Honor Detail fired a 9 gun salute, and then played “taps” before presenting our country’s flag to Nates wife, Callie, their daughter, Willow, their two sons, Keegan and Aiden, as well as to his mom, Janet, and also to his father, John. The Maine Military Honor team from Camp Keyes also served as bearers. Also in attendance were representatives from both Senator Snowe’s and Senator Collins’ offices as well as from U.S. Rep. Mike Michaud’s office.
