Someone please give me one good reason why we would let our state representatives and senators allow the passage of LD 1725 that would take money right out of working people’s pockets?

It used to be that any worker who earned vacation time and had it accrued but who then was laid off from work through no fault of their own, had to wait to collect their unemployment insurance until they exhausted their vacation pay at a rate of one week of vacation pay to one week of unemployment insurance pay.

Not long ago a law was implemented that would make vacation pay money exempt from impacting the wait for unemployment insurance.

Currently, bill LD 1725 is seeking to reverse the law that exempts vacation pay from impacting unemployment insurance.

Unemployment insurance is paid for by employers to assist their workers who become dislocated or laid off from work through no fault of their own.

Imagine if your car insurance company told you that since you have money accrued or saved in a bank, it would not pay any liabilities or benefits to fix your car after an accident until you exhausted your savings account.

Imagine if your homeowners insurance refused to pay for liabilities until you exhausted your savings account first.

I have contacted my state representative and senator and asked them to oppose LD 1725 because it is the right thing to do.
