OXFORD — Albert William Buck, 85, known as “Bucky” to those who knew him best, of Oxford, passed away Saturday, March 24.

Albert was born in Bethel, July 23, 1926, to Ernest Orlando Buck and Grace Farwell Buck and was one of four brothers.

Albert married Norma Bean at the Bethel Methodist Church on July 18, 1948, when Norma was still in high school; they have been happily married for 63 years.

Together they raised their four children, traveled-whether it be to the camp on Songo Pond, Old Orchard Beach, the top of Pike’s Peak or cruising in the Caribbean. He enjoyed boating, ice fishing, traveling and cruising. But above all, Albert loved spending time with his family. Albert was a loving father to his children and grandchildren. His family has memories that will last forever.

Albert was a 32nd Degree Mason and the oldest member of the Kora Temple.

Albert was a hard worker: he served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, then owned and operated two successive “Bucky’s Service Stations” for 40 years. After selling the second station, he managed Luce Oil Co. in Bethel and later worked at Bancroft Construction.

Throughout his many years of employment, Albert was always held in high regard for his willingness to help and recognized for his hard-work and customer service that went above and beyond.

He is survived by his wife of Oxford; three children, Linda Chin of Oxford, Debra Haworth of Colorado, and John Buck of Bethel.

He was predeceased by a daughter, Nancy Buck.

Albert will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
