LEWISTON — Florence F. Belanger, 82, of Lewiston died Monday, March 26, at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center following a short illness.
She was born in Lewiston, Aug. 11, 1929, the daughter of Alfred and Yvonne (Verville) Sutton. She was the widow of George L. Belanger, whom she married on Jan. 11, 1947, and who died on July 11, 2011.
Florence was a beloved wife and mother raising her children in the family home until they were on their own and later went to work for various local shoe shops.
She loved going to the ocean, playing cards, cooking, spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren and going to Holy Cross bean suppers. She also enjoyed going out to eat with her family and with her numerous friends she made at d’Youville Pavilion while her husband was a resident.
She was a longtime member of St. Patrick’s Church until it’s closing and later was a member of Holy Cross Church.
She is survived by her sons, George A. Belanger and wife, Patricia, of Lewiston and John R. Belanger of Connecticut; her grandchildren, Mark Belanger of New York, Michael Belanger of Friendship and Jeff Belanger and wife, Molly, of Augusta; and her great-grandchildren, Natalia, Desiree and Jaxson.
The family wishes to express a heartfelt thank-you to the staff on C2 at St. Mary’s Regional Medical Center for the wonderful care they provided for Florence.
