RUMFORD — Abbie’s Avengers, an American Cancer Society River Valley Relay For Life team, has announced the Polar Plunge was a great success, raising more than $1,600 . Upcoming fundraisers are as follows:
Sundays, April 1 to June1, the Potty Brigade will be out. A purple potty will be placed on lawns sent by friends and neighbors with a sign reading, “You Have Been Flushed.” There are three ways to get the potty off the lawn: $10 to removes it; $15 to send it to a friend; or $20 to remove it, send it along and purchases a protection plan to ensure it never returns.
Residents may also purchase the protection plan for $10 if purchased before the potty is sent to them. A check must be sent payable to the American Cancer Society to Tracy Daigle, 6 Hemingway St., Rumford, ME 04276 or call 364-6172 for more information.
There will be an auction on Facebook to see who gets the potty first. The highest bidder will decide where the potty goes on Sunday, April 1.
A bake sale will be held from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday, April 7, at Marden’s. There will be raffle tickets on sale as well.
A bottle drive will be held Saturday, May 19, in the River Valley area. A car wash/yard sale may be held Saturday, May 12, but the team is looking at booking space before advertising
