LEWISTON — Therese Marcotte, 86, of Lewiston, died on March 24, at Marshwood Nursing Home, after a long illness.

She was born Jan. 1, 1926, the daughter of Laurent and Juliette (Gendron) Lajoie. Therese graduated from Lewiston High School in 1943. She married Raymond Marcotte on May 17, 1947. They shared 65 years of marriage together. Therese raised a family of three children, then worked 20 years as a medical secretary for an orthopedic surgeon. She ended her working career alongside her husband in his optical business.

Therese was an active member in the community. She sang for the Magic Pops Singing Group for nine years. She also was a member of the Prospect Hill Golf Club. She organized a ladies bowling league called the Starlighters. Therese enjoyed traveling with her husband, Ray, to Myrtle Beach and Florida. She especially enjoyed being adventuresome when traveling to Alaska to see her daughter.

Family was the most important part of Therese’s life. She was a devoted wife, mother and Memere who loved spending time with family. She cooked many delicious family holiday dinners. Therese will always be remembered for her radiant smile and warm personality she shared with everyone she met even throughout her illness.

Therese is survived by her husband, Raymond Marcotte of Lewiston; two sons Roger Marcotte and his wife, Jeannette, of Lisbon and Robert Marcotte and his wife, Maureen, of Lewiston; one daughter, Louise Bower and her husband, Curtis, of Ketchikan, Alaska; three brothers, Laurent Lajoie and his wife, Rejane, Marcel Lajoie and his companion, Dot and Michel Lajoie and his wife, Rita; one sister, Lorette Murphy, all of Lewiston; five grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
