JAY — Police are investigating the theft of a large quantity of construction tools from a Main Street property.

The tools, with an estimated value of between $7,000 to $10,000, were taken sometime between the end of December and last week from a property near the end of Tweedie and Main streets, Jay police Detective Richard Caton said.

Some tools taken include a welder, an air compressor, a laser-transit level, 1/8-inch diamond sheet plates and several nail guns, with some either being Paslode or Bostich brands.

Anyone with any information, including knowledge of anyone trying to sell these types of items, is asked to please call the Jay Police Department at 897-6766, he said.

The owner had put up his tools for the winter and last week went to get them. He found he has no tools to start work with this spring, Caton said.

Police have a complete list with details of what is missing and are asking for help from the public.
