FARMINGTON — The Maine Farm Bureau Women’s/Ag Education Committee has announced an agricultural tour of Franklin County.
The diversity of agriculture will be displayed from 8:30 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday, April 14, when participants will tour a diverse group of farms and agricultural businesses in the Farmington/New Sharon areas.
Those going will meet from 8 to 8:30 a.m. and register at the parking lot of Wal-Mart, Route 4, then board a bus.
Stops will include a dairy processing facility at Sandy River Farms; York Hill Farm in New Sharon, dairy goat and cheese processing farm; Hardy Farms, award winning dairy farm with a maple operation; Marble Family Farms, produce baked goods and products in a commercial kitchen; and Robin’s Flower Pot, home to seven greenhouses.
Lunch will be provided during a stop at the West Farmington Grange. A selection of build-your-own sandwiches, salads, desserts and drinks will be available and there will be an opportunity to tour the renovations to the grange to assist farmers with storage and processing capabilities.

The program is open to all. If interest is strong enough, additional tours featuring other types of agriculture and other parts of the state will be planned in the future.
