Christina Berry’s response (March 3) to my previous letter of Feb. 26 against gay marriages asked what rights I had in being so harsh with my opinions.

I had asked to give the Constitution a rest, but that is what gave both of us the right to freedom of speech.

Berry suggested religion should be given a rest but, for some, religion has had decades of rest and it is time for people to wake up.

If members of the gay community are not pushing their views on the public, I would like to know what they call it, since same-sex marriage has been turned down before and they won’t take “no” for an answer.

Give religion a rest? It is the creator who doesn’t approve of gay marriage, and Christians should count themselves lucky for being alive.

If things keep going like the present, what will be next? Some male will come up with the idea of allowing men to have more than one wife? As long as the people involved agree to the arrangement since they are madly in love (with love being the key word), why not?

What a nice family atmosphere that would make, especially after children start arriving. Or does that happen before marriage now?

What a great soap opera world we are in. Who knows what love really is today?
