Lewiston Public Library Director Rick Speer zips around the third floor of the library Wednesday afternoon on his knee scooter. Complete with hand brakes, it was recommended by his doctor after Speer broke his fibula about a month ago while cross-country skiing. “It’s just great,” Speer said. “It is a lot better than crutches, but I get kidded by some of the staff, saying I get around faster now than before I broke my leg.”
