FARMINGTON — A Weld driver escaped with minor injury after flipping his pickup truck on the Wilton Road on Thursday afternoon. His dog was unharmed.

George W. Brown, 63, was driving west at 2:56 p.m. when he started to feel faint, according to police. After passing the intersection of Oak Street, his vehicle went up on the sidewalk, missing a speed-limit sign but striking the side of a tree in front of Farmington Car Wash.

Brown, who was not wearing a seat belt, received minor injuries including facial cuts in the accident, said Farmington Police Sgt. Michael Adcock. He refused to be transported by NorthStar ambulance but was advised to go to the hospital to be checked on and was making arrangements to do that, Adcock said.

A paramedic held Brown’s dog while Brown was first checked in the ambulance at the scene.

The impact with the tree flipped the 2005 GMC Sierra pickup causing damage along the driver side where it landed and on the right front side where it struck the tree, Adcock said. It was towed from the scene by Bryan’s Towing.

No other vehicles were involved in the accident.

Members of Farmington Fire and Rescue responded to help with traffic control and to clear the crash scene on the heavily traveled road.
