OXFORD — Elaine L. Curtis, 77, of Oxford went to join her loving husband in heaven on Thursday, March 29, at home with her loving family by her side after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
She was born in Mechanic Falls, Oct. 15, 1934, daughter of Erland and Thelma (Holt) Allen.
She spent her childhood days on Pigeon Hill and attended Oxford schools. She played basketball throughout her school years, and was known to her friends and team mates as “Shorty.” She graduated from Oxford High in 1953.
On Jan. 16, 1959, she married George E. Curtis, and went on to raise four children together. Elaine worked 30-plus years for Pleasant Mountain Moc. in Bridgton.
Elaine was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was an avid Red Sox fan and wasn’t willing to miss a game. She always enjoyed family gatherings as much as the family enjoyed being in her presence. She will be greatly missed by all who loved her.
She is survived by her children, Vicki Currier and husband, David, of Oxford, Brenda Marston and husband, Carl, of Oxford, Pamela Hall and companion, Peter, of Winslow and George Curtis Jr. and companion, Sherri, of Oxford; grandchildren, David Currier Jr. and wife, Jennifer, Michael Hall, Amanda Marston and companion, Dennis Nason, Megan Batchelder and husband, Alan, Christopher Marston and fiance, Danielle, George Curtis III and Danny Rock; great-grandchildren, Kaleb Currier, Colby Turcotte, Emily Batchelder, Carter Currier, Avery Marston, Khloe Batchelder, Ila Elizabeth Curtis and Emma Marston; sister, Linda Cutler and husband, Jeff, of Otisfield; and brother, Paul Allen and wife, Theresa, of Oxford.
