AUBURN — Jean “Paul” Meservier, 73, of Mitchell Street, Lewiston, died Friday, March 30, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin with his family by his side, after a short period of failing health.

Born in Lewiston on April 5, 1938,  he was the son of the late Alphonse and Bertha (Rivard) Meservier. He attended Holy Cross School. He served in the Army National Guard.

On July 14, 1962, he married the former Doris Lavoie who survives him of Lewiston. His work history included Arthur’s Grill, Shapiro Shoe, Koss Shoe, Lockheed Aircraft, Bellegrade Shoe, Falcon Shoe and he retired from Supreme Slipper.

He was a member of DAV, LaRencontre and faithful member of Holy Cross Church of the Prince of Peace Parish. His hobbies included tinkering with old TVs, testing and replacing tubes, gardening especially his flower gardens, making woodcraft including Christmas toys for the grandchildren, reading and doing puzzles. Most of all, he enjoyed family gatherings.

Besides his wife, he is survived by five children including Patrick Meservier and his wife, Dori, of Harrison, Michael Meservier and his wife, Sue, of Turner, Timmy Meservier and his fiance, Debbie Sundeen, of Poland, June Linscott and her husband, Ralph, of Waterville, and Nicholas Meservier of Lewiston; eight grandchildren, Tanner Meservier and his fiance, Nancy O’Toole, of Lewiston, Katrina Cyr of Lewiston, Renee Poulin and her husband, Anthony, of Turner, Nicole Meservier of Auburn, Bethany Smith and her husband, Graham, of Germany, Kathy Meservier of Poland, and Alison Linscott of Waterville, and two step-grandchildren, Devlin and Jarryn Longley, both of Harrison; one brother, Robert Meservier, of Auburn; one sister, Joan Terry, of Las Vegas, Nev.; four brothers-in-law, Larry Lavoie and his wife, Irene, of Lewiston, Maurice Lavoie and his wife, Jackie, of Florida, Robert Lavoie of Lewiston, and Donald Gosselin of Lewiston; five sisters-in- law, Susan Meservier of Oregon, Veny Lavoie of Lewiston, Joan Casavant and her husband, Louis, of Lewiston, Louise Demas and her husband, Andy, of Massachusetts, and Gisele Lavoie of Lewiston. He also leaves two Godchildren, Jackie Gervais and Marc Gosselin; plus many nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by a granddaughter, Kristin Linscott; two brothers, Leo and Richard Meservier; two sisters, Shirley and Yvette Meservier; three brothers-in-law, Thomas Terry, Aime and Normand Lavoie; sisters-in-law, Anita Meservier, Jeannine Lavoie Gosselin and Jeanne Cloutier Lavoie.
