WILTON — A public hearing on a rate adjustment for the Wastetreatment Department will precede the selectmen’s meeting Tuesday.
The public hearing begins at 7 p.m. at the Town Office.
The hearing provides the opportunity for residents to discuss two options proposed by the department to cover the rate adjustment needed for Phase I of the renovation of the plant and pump stations.
Each option suggests billing ratepayers $53.33 per quarter for debt obligation, but the first option would maintain the current rate structure. The second option would reduce the current quarterly charge by $5 for minimum users and increase the charge for those who go above the minimum use.
The department recommends going with option two.
Information about the proposals is available at area stores, the Town Office, post office and on the Wilton website at www.wiltonmaine.org
Following the hearing, the board will consider the rate adjustment and scheduling another public hearing on April 17 to discuss Phase II of the Wastetreatment Department plant upgrade.
