Matter of balance

LEWISTON — The Patrick Dempsey Center for Cancer Hope and Healing and Rumford Hospital are offering a free workshop for cancer survivors and caregivers concerned balance issues as a result of cancer treatments.

“It’s a Matter of Balance: Concerned about Falls?” will take place from 2 to 3 p.m. Thursday, April 5, at Rumford Hospital, Conference Room A.

Rhonda Norton, PT, DPT, physical therapist with Rumford Hospital, will lead an interactive session including balance screenings and physical therapy strategies for assessing and improving balance.

Meeting, supper

ANDOVER — Snow Valley Sno-Goers snowmobile club will hold its annual meeting and potluck supper on Saturday, April 7. The supper will begin at 6 p.m. and will be followed by the annual meeting and election of officers at 7 at the clubhouse, off Route 5.

All members and interested people are invited to attend the supper, the meeting or both. They are asked to bring a dish to share for the potluck.

Super Benefit

RUMFORD — The American Legion Auxiliary Unit 24 is hosting its second annual Super Benefit on Saturday, April 7. All money raised will go to support the troops and local veterans.

A Mexican supper will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. at a cost of $10 a person. Bake sale items will also be available. The band Fair Enough will play from 8 p.m. to 12 a.m. The cost of the dance is $10 a person. If a dance ticket is purchased, the cost for the meal will be $8 a person.

The unit is looking for families to submit pictures for their soldier or veteran to create a wall of memory.

A Chinese auction will also be held. The Auxiliary is looking for gift certificates, baskets, items for bake sale and cash donations.
