LEWISTON — The Lewiston CareerCenter, 5 Mollison Way, announces April programming for job seekers and those who are considering training to upgrade their skills to increase their employment prospects.

In addition to the regular offerings, there will be two job fairs in April. The first will be April 13 at Central Maine Community College from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The second job fair will focus on jobs in the health care industry and will be held from 9-11 a.m. on April 17 at the CareerCenter.

There will be four “Prepare for a Job Fair” workshops to learn how to have and effective conversation with employers. The workshops will be April 3, 5 and 9 at the CareerCenter, call 753-9005 for times and to register; and April 5 at Central Maine Community College, call 755-5239 for time and to register.

The Professionals Moving Ahead group will meet April 10 from 2-5 p.m. Topic is “Volunteering — your ticket to employment?” from 9 a.m. to noon April 27, to discuss goal setting as it relates to job search.

“Job Search, Resumes and Interview Skills” workshops will be offered 2-5 p.m. April 11 at the Auburn Public Library, call 333-6640 to register; 9 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. April 19 at the CareerCenter, call 753-9005 to register.

“GATEway to Employment” meets 1-4 p.m. each Thursday from for an overview of resumes, interviews and job search skills, as well as CareerCenter and community services that are available during a job search. Registration is required, call 753-9005.

The “Aging Worker Initiative” connects workers 55+ with viable employment and training opportunities in the fields of health care, green energy and technology. Workshops will be 10:30 a.m. to noon April 23 at the CareerCenter, call 753-9005 to register; and 10-11:30 a.m. April 30 at the Auburn Public Library, call 333-6640 to register.

The “Career Decision Making” workshop is in two-parts. Offered April 9 and 13, or April 20 and 23. Call 753-9005 to register for the next session.

CareerCenter offers a training orientation which gives an overview of training resources at the CareerCenter, eligibility requirements and information on accessing services. Orientations are offered twice a week, call 753-9005 for more information.

On the third Friday of each month at 1-2:30 p.m., the CareerCenter holds an orientation for people with disabilities to learn about vocational rehabilitation services. Call 753-9005 for more information.

An adult education representative will be available for those exploring options to improve job skills through adult education programs or classes. Available 10:15-11 a.m. April 4, 11, 18, or 25. Call 753-9005 for more information and to register.

“Essentials of College Planning for Adults” covers the basic steps for college enrollment. Register by calling 800-281-3703. Bring last year’s income tax forms to the appointment.

“Job Search Tips for People with a Criminal History” will be offered from 9-10 a.m. April 6. Registration is required. Call 753-9005.
