STRONG — According to participants, there’s always something good for lunch at the Community Table held at the Forster Memorial Building.

It brings people for the meal and a visit with their neighbors, said Roberta Avery of Salem as she enjoyed a roast pork meal Friday.

For the past three years, Michael Senecal, better known as Pastor Mike, and his volunteers have offered free luncheons for the community during the last full week of each month from 11:30 to 1 p.m. from September through May.

He is a Strong resident and pastor of a church in Unity that sponsors a similar meal there. The Unity church supported the start of the local meal, first started in Phillips then moved to Strong. It continues to help, he said.

As a nonprofit, Community Table purchases some food through the Good Shepherd Food-Bank. While the meals are free, there is a donation jar for those who want to give.

Along with the meal, a variety of food items line tables in the basement room. These are available for diners to take home with them, Senecal said.

Meals will be served again Monday through Friday, April 23-27.
