DEAR SUN SPOTS: We are not having success finding someone to fix a Ridgewood grandfather clock. The local person must be very booked because he has not returned phone calls.
Also, do you know where we can find metal picnic tables reasonably priced?
Anyone with information can call 577-7048. Thanks. — No Name via email
ANSWER: Sun Spots has the following sources for clock repair in her Rolodex:
* Harry Hepburn III of Harrison, 583-2821
* Rohman Clockworks, 350 Minot Ave., Auburn, 784-1211
* Leroy Blauvelt, Porter Road, Dixfield, 562 8955
Catherine Raynor of Morin’s Fine furniture, 782-7511, www.morinsfinefurniture.com, also wrote to Sun Spots offering to help customers find vendors for clocks such as yours.
As for a metal picnic table, there are half-a-dozen sources online, including picnictables.com and uline.com. Lowes and Home Depot have tables on their websites that might meet your needs. Some are advertised as having steel-coated plastic table and seats.
Sun Spots doesn’t know what you’d consider reasonably priced; many were from $650 to $900. Perhaps readers will know of local sources for both new and used tables.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have accumulated some stamps, but I’m wondering if Sister Boisvert is still at the same residence and still collecting them. I will be waiting for your answer. — No Name, No Town
ANSWER: Sun Spots emailed Sister to find out if her last communication was still correct but has not received an answer. What follows is the last response Sun Spots had from her. Perhaps someone who knows her will let the column know if it’s still current.
“Thank you to all of your readers for the canceled stamps, kind letters and thoughtful cards they have sent to me this past year. I am very grateful for them all. The African villagers can always use more help. Please send your canceled stamps to me at 209 Lawrence St., Methuen, MA 01844. When cutting the stamp out, please leave a little space around it so that the stamp is not damaged. Foreign stamps are the most valuable. Nonprofit stamps are of no use. There is no such thing as too few. As many as one stamp is welcome. If a SASE (self-addressed stamped envelope) or a 44 cent stamp is sent, I will send a thank-you note. Thank you in advance for your help. May God bless each and every one of you. — Sr. Gilberte Boisvert, Massachusetts”
DEAR SUN SPOTS: This is in response to the reader seeking a place to bring good used furniture (March 23). Loaves & Fishes in Sabattus has weekly fundraising garage sales and also keeps furniture on hand to give away to people in need. We will take just a few pieces or an entire household.
If you have furniture to donate, please call Ellie at 577-9364. Thank you for the great service you provide your readers. — Claudette Therriault, Loaves & Fishes, [email protected]
