LISBON — A local man was arrested following a car chase, crash and foot pursuit early Tuesday morning.

Gerald Burnsworth, 19, of 14 Park St., was charged at 2:19 a.m. Tuesday with operating under the influence, operating without a license, unauthorized use of property, refusing to submit to arrest, leaving the scene of an accident and probation revocation. He faces additional charges in warrants from Maine and Ohio, including theft in Cumberland County.

His bail is set at $1,060, but he remained in the Androscoggin County Jail Tuesday night on the probation revocation charge, according to a dispatcher.

Lisbon police Sgt. Scott Stewart said an officer tried to stop Burnsworth on suspicion of operating under the influence at about 1:30 a.m. on Route 196. He said Burnsworth led officers on a brief car chase before going off the road and crashing into a tree at the intersection of Route 196 and Moody Road. Authorities later discovered the 2001 Saturn was stolen from Lewiston.

Stewart said Burnsworth fled on foot and was arrested a short time later with the help of a Lisbon police dog. Lewiston police assisted with the incident.
