NORWAY — Yvonne Marie Delamater, 92, of Market Square Health Care Center in South Paris, died Sunday, April 1, at Stephens Memorial Hospital.

She was born Oct. 28, 1919, in Lewiston, the daughter of George V. and Ida Laliberte Labonte. She attended Lewiston schools and married Roland R. Delamater on Oct. 28, 1939. She and Roland enjoyed 58 years of marriage together until his passing in 1998. They resided in Lewiston, moved to Greene and, in 1959, they purchased Oxford Pines Resort on Thompson Lake in Oxford. Yvonne managed the resort and was well-known for her hospitality, baking skills and her ability as a seamstress.

She possessed a strong love of her family and a very vibrant faith in Jesus. She was known for her constant reminder to everyone that they should enjoy each and every day. She often said that when she passed people should not mourn for she had a wonderful life and was looking forward to reuniting with her husband, sisters and brothers and the many friends and relatives who had passed before her.

She and her husband enjoyed trips across the country, particularly, with their dear friends, Jim and Evelyn Cleveland and, after retiring, they spent winters in South Carolina and summers in Maine.

After the death of her husband, she resided in West Paris before moving into Andrews House at Market Square in South Paris. She loved her time there and was assisted by some wonderful caregivers, namely Kim Ayotte, Martha Bumpus and Wanda James. In April last year, she moved downstairs to the Market Square Health Care Center, where she received wonderful care and often spoke about how much she enjoyed the staff and the many wonderful people she met.

She is survived by two sons, Roland C. Delamater of West Paris and James D. Delamater of Oxford and his wife, Jean; two grandsons, Christopher Delamater, and his wife, Heather, of Oxford and Matthew Delamater, and his wife, Emily, of Portland; two great-grandsons, Ayden and Brady Delamater of Oxford; one sister, Jeannine St. Hilaire of Lewiston; and many nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her parents; two brothers, Dominic and Robert Labonte; and four sisters, Marcella Talarico, Lucille Janelle, Annette Marquis and Jeannette Dulac.

The family expresses thanks to Dr. James Eshleman, the staff at Andrews House and Market Square Health Care Center and the staff at Stephens Memorial Hospital for their loving care to Yvonne.
