LIVERMORE FALLS — Public sessions have been eliminated from selectmen meetings, Chairman Bill Demaray announced as he opened Monday night’s meeting.

“The board feels the public session has gotten out of hand,” he said.

If people have an issue, they are asked to bring it to Town Manager Kristal Flagg by the Wednesday before the next meeting and she will research it and have an answer for the resident.

If people would like to have an item on the agenda of the next meeting, they can request it on the Wednesday prior to the meeting.

In other business, Flagg said there was enough money left from the sale of foreclosed property to pay off sewer and tax liens on foreclosed property at 28 Sewall St., she said. The town owns the property and will have to demolish it. Initially, there was hope that the Fire Department could burn it but there are too many trees and the structure is adjacent to other properties.

The house with a garage underneath it has deteriorated and is not livable, Demaray said. Selectmen voted to pay off the sewer and taxes owed to the town with excess money from foreclosure sales.

The board also decided to resolicit bids on a house and property at 9 Sewall St. It was the only foreclosed property that didn’t receive a bid.

The town required a $5,000 minimum the first time around, but Flagg suggested eliminating that and selectmen maintain the right to accept or reject any offers.

Code Enforcement Officer James Butler Jr. said the house is not livable.

Flagg suggested an article be put on the town warrant to take money from surplus to deal with other dangerous and nuisance properties. There is enough money in the surplus account to handle it, she said.
