LEWISTON — Philip J. Leary Jr., MSgt Ret., USAF, of Rangeley, died suddenly on April 1, surrounded by his loving family.

He was born in Lynn, Mass., Oct. 1, 1938, to Philip J. Leary Sr. and Ethel (O’Brien) Leary. Philip proudly served  in the U.S. Air Force and Maine Air National Guard as a jet engine technician.

Upon his retirement from the military, Philip and Karin settled in Rangeley, where he enjoyed fishing and they shared a fondness of snowmobiling, boating and camping. They also were devoted to their loyal rescued canine companions.

Philip leaves behind the love of his life, Karin S. Leary of Rangeley; his daughter, Myra Phillips and husband, Earl; two grandsons, John and Michael Phillips; two stepdaughters, Cheryl Hodsdon and Wendy Lainez-Blanchard and husband, Michael; two stepsons, Jon Cardello and wife, Tamara and Kurt Cardello and wife, Allison; and their children, Danielle Lainez Foster, Lauren Cardello, Jacob Cardello, Sorrell Cardello, Jessica Hodsdon and Jared Cardello.

He was predeceased by a stepdaughter, Jill Cardello in 1996.
