On a recent Tuesday, a group of us were having breakfast down at an Auburn diner when a big purple city bus went by and turned onto Mill Street. The bus was empty.

That brought up a conversation about the buses. One person said that the federal government paid for the buses. Another said that those buses are always empty.

To me, it makes no difference as to who pays for it. In the long run, we all are. And Saturday service is being proposed?

My question is, why? If the buses are empty during the week, why run them on Saturdays? It would make more sense to run smaller buses and then use them on Saturdays.
