POLAND — James Fernald was elected to the Board of Selectmen with 245 votes in Friday’s election.
He replaces Chairman Erland Torrey who had served the maximum number of terms allowed.
Lawrence Moreau was returned to the board for a second, three-year term with 235 votes.
Others in the race were James Walker Jr. with 71 votes and Michelle Arsenault with 64.
Scott Sawyer got 225 votes to serve another three years on the RSU 16 Board of Directors. Joining him will be Grace Gendron who had 230. She replaces Jeanne Manley who did not seek re-election.
Running uncontested for seats on the Ricker Library Board of Trustees were Jeanne Wright for three years and Julie Cushman and Deborah Lamb for one year each.
There were two seats open on the Budget Committee, but only one candidate on the ballot. Lionel C. Ferland Jr. was re-elected for three years with 296 votes. Erland Torrey received 19 write-in votes and agreed to serve.
Town Clerk Judy Akers reported 343 ballots cast.
