Thirteen men were arrested by the Lewiston police while raiding two alleged gambling joints Saturday evening. They were the first arrests of this nature made for sometime and they made a sensation in certain circles. The first place visited was a tenement over a store on the east side of Lincoln, not far from Chestnut. The officers entered without resistance, for the door was opened when they rapped, those within not expecting an invasion. Cards and a small amount of money were found on the table.
Shortly after 10 o’clock, the police went to the store on Spruce Street, between Park and Lisbon. This shop is a candy and variety store and it was closed to the general public at 10 o’clock. A man was seen kicking the door, apparently for admission, and the officers arrived just in time to be admitted as the door was unlocked.

Ten volunteers who were trained Monday began interviewing those flood victims, while a similar effort began for Franklin and Oxford counties at the Rumford Armory.
