We owe our thanks again to our beloved King Paul LePage for proving that he knows what is best for us and that he will do whatever it takes to protect us.
Recently a bill passed the House (90-54) and the Senate (32-2) that would have required banks attempting to foreclose on a property to prove that they actually own that property. In his majesty’s infinite wisdom, he realized that would pose an undue burden on the banks, so he vetoed the bill. He stated, “This law would not do anything to shorten the foreclosure process in the state of Maine.”
I am sure we all heartily agree. Let’s get these foreclosures done and get those pesky people out of their homes as fast as possible, even if the banks can’t prove that they own the property.
In another statement, his majesty states,“It would add a new burden on our lenders to produce original copies of documents or swear under penalty of perjury why they are not able to.”
Again, he shows his infinite wisdom. Banks are much too busy foreclosing on homes they do not own to be bothered with more paperwork.
So, let’s give thanks to his majesty. I’m glad to see that he is on the side of the people of Maine.
