SEBAGO — The State Fire Marshal’s Office will be on hand Monday to investigate the cause of a weekend blaze in Sebago that damaged a three-story home on Eagle Crest View Road less than one mile from the Fire Department.

Deputy Chief Alan Greene said between 40 and 50 firefighters from 10 departments helped save the structure from serious damage during the fire late Saturday night.

Greene said the single-family home was under renovation and that family members had been splitting time between the home and a camp in the area. They were staying at the Eagle Crest View Road home at the time of the blaze, but only one person was home at the time.

Greene said it appears the fire started in the area of a back deck and spread through the walls to the home’s attic, which sustained the most damage along with the rear, right side of the home’s first floor and deck.

“We were able to stop it from spreading other than where it initially started,” Greene said.

The fire was brought under control within 45 minutes of crews arriving, and firefighters cleared the scene about 1 a.m. Sunday. In addition to Sebago, crews from Baldwin, Cornish, Bridgton, Casco, Denmark, Harrison, Hiram, Limington, Naples, Standish and United Ambulance assisted at the scene.
