Two local girls recently were part of winning USA Hockey Tier I National Championship teams.

Kerri St. Denis of Auburn won the U14 Girls Tier I Championship with her U14 Assabet Valley girls team, while Kara Violette of Greene won the U16 Girls Tier I Championship with her U16 Assabet Valley girls team.

This was Violette’s second nattional title in four years. She won in 2008 as part of the Assabet Valley U12 team.

Other Maine girls winning national championships with Assabet Valley teams were Molly Strabley of Yarmouth with the U19 Team and Katherine Pate of Saco with the U16 club.
