RUMFORD — Groups that want to participate in the 2012 Mountain Valley Kids Fest, an award-winning, child advocacy event scheduled for May 12, should attend the next organizational meeting.
That will be at 6 p.m. Thursday, April 12, in the bingo hall at the Rumford Falls Fraternal Order of Eagles No. 1248.
More information on what participating groups plan for their demonstrations will be discussed at this meeting, Fred Allen, Rumford Eagles president, said Monday by email.
At the March 29 kick-off meeting, Allen said checks were presented to participating groups from last year’s event for winning the best Child Advocacy Day event for 2011 at the Fraternal Order of Eagles International Convention in Orlando, Fla., in July 2011. The Rumford Eagles aerie was awarded a plaque, along with a $3,000 check to benefit local youth.
Plans for the May 12 children’s festival include the return of Rumford police and fire departments, the Greater Rumford Community Center, RSU 10 wellness team, the Mexico Police Explorers, Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts.
Allen said the RSU 10 team plans to run a bicycle rodeo and area businessman Todd Wardwell has again donated use of his bounce attraction.
