AUBURN — Gloria S. LeComte, 85, of Chapman House, 41 Pleasant St., Auburn, died Tuesday, April 10, at the Hospice House of Androscoggin Home Care & Hospice Services.
She was born in Lewiston, Sept. 21, 1926, the daughter of Lionel and Antoinette Verreault-Lessard. Educated in local schools, she was a graduate of Lewiston High School, Class of 1933 and Bliss College. Initial career employment included work with the U.S. Army at Fort Devans, Mass.
On Aug 16, 1947, she married Gregoire J. LeComte, who passed away on Dec. 15, 2000. She always took immense pride and pleasure in being a stay-at-home MOM and loved cooking for her family.
Gloria was a kind-hearted woman who always had a smile on her face and was always willing to help people in need especially her church and other Catholic organizations. Her favorite pastimes included attending Boston Red Sox and local hockey games with her family. Other activities she enjoyed were going to the beach and ocean with family and friends, playing bingo and attending Mass at d’Youville Chapel.
A member of the Basilica of Saints Peter and Paul, Prince of Peace Parish, she is survived by two sons, Raymond and wife, Nancy, of Seaford, Va., and Norman and wife, Susan, of Waterville; a daughter, Susan and husband, Larry St. Pierre, of Auburn; a brother, Paul Lessard of Lewiston; a sister, Jeanne Lessard and friend, Mary Dube, of Leeds; six grandchildren, Aaron and wife, Dawn, Lisa and husband, Rick, Brian and girlfriend, Susan Albert, Amber and husband, Chris, Michael and fiance, Abbie Balcunas, and Kristine and husband, Glenn; and seven great-grandchildren Hannah, Leah, Julie, CJ, Justin, Andrew and Scarlett.
Besides her parents and husband, she was predeceased by two brothers, Wilfred and Roger Lessard; and a sister, Pauline Wietstock.
