AUBURN — Kim T. Strout, 55, of Sumner, died April 11, after a courageous battle with cancer.
She was born July 16, 1956, in Newport, Vt. Kim was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother.
She served as the librarian at Sherwood Heights Elementary School in Auburn as well as a teacher in various schools in the surrounding area for many years.
She was very active with the ELHS and LHS Music Associations. She was an avid bingo player. She also served as a coach for the Sumner girls softball and as a softball mom for many years. She was a member of the Congregational Church of East Sumner.
Kim is survived by her loving husband of 32 years, Wayne Strout; her three daughters, Andrea and her husband, Tom Bachelder, of Buckfield, Stephanie Strout of Lewiston and Elizabeth Strout and her fiancee, Ryan Ouellette, of Bradley; two grandchildren, Gracie and Thomas Bachelder; her father, John Conrad Taffner Jr. of Tilton, N.H.; her sister, Beth and her husband, Alan Matthew, of Thornton, N.H.; her mother-in-law, Lillian Strout of Portland; her sisters-in-law, Constance and her husband, Kevin Wall, of Amesbury, Mass., and Diane and her husband, Willie Davis, of Salem, Ore.; and several nieces, nephews and one grandniece.
She was predeceased by her mother, Eleanor Taffner; and her brother, John Conrad Taffner III.
The family would like to thank the entire staff at Androscoggin Home Care and Hospice House for their wonderful care of Kim and our family.
The family also would like to say a special thank-you to Dr. Hector Tarraza and his entire staff at Gynecological Oncology, and Obstetrics Gynecology in Scarborough for keeping Kim with us these last eight years.
