DEAR SUN SPOTS: My newspaper carrier no longer takes the plastic bags that come with the paper. I always saved them for a couple of weeks, then would leave them out for the carrier to pick up and reuse.
I believe he has to pay for these bags, so if they could be reused that not only helps our landfills but helps someone’s pocketbook, right? If another carrier would like the bags, I can be reached at 576-7755. — Susan Miller, suemiller1216@yahoo.com
ANSWER: For an answer to your question, Sun Spots contacted Bill McCarthy, the Sun Journal’s transportation manager. He and Circulation Director Mike Theriault confirmed that many carriers do appreciate the return of the bags. Bill wrote:
“Many of the carriers reuse the bags, or sleeves as they are called. The carriers, as independent contractors, purchase the sleeves from us at cost, so any they reuse save them roughly 1.5 cents per bag.”
Some of the new carriers might not realize the value of reusing the bags, so Mike will contact your carrier and let him or her know.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: What happened to the show “A Gifted Man”? It used to be viewed on Friday night at 8 p.m., then changed to 9 p.m. Can you answer for me? I really enjoyed the show. — Ed via email
ANSWER: According to several online posts, “A Gifted Man” is certain to be canceled by CBS, which has more successful shows than the other networks and is thus a bit choosier. The season finale appeared March 2, so it’s definitely gone for this season. CBS could still renew it, but it seems unlikely. Perhaps another network will pick it up. That does happen, albeit rarely.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I have a question and just know that you will know the answer! Years ago there was a restaurant named Lobsterland. Can you tell me if it was located on Blake Street or Bates Street? I have heard different opinions, but I was sure it was on Blake Street. Thank you for any help you can provide. — Linda Abbott, lindaabbott11@yahoo.com
ANSWER: Sun Spots didn’t find anything online, but her colleague, obituary clerk John Wood, says it was on Blake Street.
DEAR SUN SPOTS: I’m hoping that someone has an adjustable camera tripod they would like to part with at a very reasonable price. I’m looking for a camera tripod that has a device at the top that allows the photographer to attach the camera to it, so that longer exposure time is possible when using no flash.

If you have one, please call me at 782-5118. Thank you very much, Sun Spots. I enjoy your column tremendously. — Anita Poulin, apgraph@roadrunner.com
