‘Life Goes On’ is sermon topic

PARIS — “Life Goes On” is the title of the sermon for Sunday, April 15, at the First Universalist Church on Pine Street. Silver Moore-Leamon will lead the 10 a.m. worship service. Music is under the direction of Joyce Franklin and the Sunday School is under the direction of Renee Wales. Coffee and fellowship will follow the service and all are welcome. Childcare is available.

Yard sale to aid Smile Fund

BETHEL — West Parish Congregational Church, Church Street, will hold its annual yard sale from 9 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 21, to benefit the Smile Fund.

Items available will include toys, books, household items and plants.

The fund aids those who are in need of restorative dental work and lack the financial resources to undertake the expensive treatment.

Clothing Center to be open

HARTFORD — The Hartford Community church clothing center will be open from 1 to 2:30 p.m. Saturday, April 21. The Clothing Center is directly across the road from the Hartford Community Church, Church Street.

Chinese auction helps pets

PARIS — A Chinese auction of more than 300 items will be held Saturday, April 21, at Oxford Hills Comprehensive High School. Proceeds will benefit Responsible Pet Care.

Bidding will take place from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Winners will be announced at 6:30 p.m.

Tickets are $5, $10 and $20. Bonus tickets and refreshments will be available.

Yard sale to be indoors

WATERFORD — The first indoor yard sale of the season will take place from 8 a.m. to noon Saturday, April 21, at The Wilkins House, on Plummer Hill (next to the church).

Come see the new layout, and check out all the deals. Something for everyone. Proceeds will go to the improvement funds.

Food Pantry to be open

WEST PARIS — Neighborhood Niche Food Pantry will be open from noon to 2 p.m. Saturday, April 21. The pantry, at West Paris Baptist Church, 15 Church St., is open from 1 to 3 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month and from noon to 2 p.m. the third Saturday of each month, excluding holidays.

AARP course for drivers

WATERFORD — An AARP Driver Safety Course for drivers 50 years of age and older will be presented from 9:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 24, at the town offices, 366 Valley Road. There will be a one-hour lunch break with lunch available. The four-hour course is designed to help drivers learn about defensive driving techniques, new traffic laws, rules of the road and more.

The registration fee is $14 per person. Advanced registration is required. To register, phone Mary Delorenzo at 583-4490 or Tom Harvey at 597-2331. Class size is limited to 25 and registration will be accepted first-come, first served as long as space is available.

DUV members to meet

STONEHAM — The Daughters of Union Veterans of the Civil War 1861-1865 Hannah F. Richardson Tent 19 will meet at 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, April 25, at the Community Room.

The last meeting was March 28 at the home of Marilyn Jones. Brenda Woods won the mystery prize. Sister Wanda Ryerson was presented a birthday cake. Sister Kim Hansen will move to Connecticut to care for her grandsons.

Methodists plan spring sale

PARIS — Deering Memorial United Methodist Church will have a spring sale 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday, April 28. Available items will include Rada Cutlery, rummage, cookbooks, gift baskets, white elephant, jewelry and a bake table.

Legion Post 82 holding dance

NORWAY — A dance and karaoke with TJ the DJ will be held from 7 to 11 p.m. Saturday, April 28, at American Legion Post 82. The cost is $6.

Spiritual healing session

HARTFORD — Spiritual healing will be the topic at 12:30 p.m. Sunday, April 29, at Hartford Town Hall, 1190 Main St.

Energy healing is used in many traditional healing modalities – polarity therapy, reflexology, acupressure and Reiki, to name a few. Learn more about plugging into this energy source and practice channeling that energy to heal yourself and others. Topics discussed will include: intelligent cells and organs in the body; energy fields in and around the body; learning to connect with universal energy; self-healing; absent healing and laying on of hands.
