I think the School Committee and the superintendent should spend the money to build a new Edward Little High School.

According to John B. Lyon of the U.S Department of Education, “Education today is delivered in an entirely new manner, with new tools, techniques and teaching methods that increasingly don’t fit the simplistic conventions of 42-year-old school designs.”

So why should we limit students to the tools of a 51-year-old school when we could build a new school that would support all the learning of the 21st century?

According to the Tennessee Advisory Commission on Intergovernmental Relations, “School facility factors such as building age and condition, quality of maintenance, temperature, lighting, noise, color and air quality can affect student health, safety, sense of self and psychological state.”

If I were a parent, I wouldn’t want my child going to a place that would affect my child’s health. This issue doesn’t affect only students, it also affects teachers.

The condition of a school can affect teacher behavior and how excited they are to teach. I know I like it when a teacher is exited to be teaching.

That is why the School Committee should approve building a new ELHS.
