PHILLIPS — Eric Stanley Berry, 40, of Phillips, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, April 10.
He was born in Farmington, May 18, 1971, the son of George and Joyce (Brown) Berry. He attended the schools of Phillips and Mt. Abram High School. At the age of 16, he went to work along side his father, running the family lumbering and excavation business of George Berry and Son in Phillips. Running the equipment was his passion.
He married Lori Haines on June 10, 2000. Eric was the master trail groomer for the North Franklin Snowmobile Club and spent countless hours on the trail making sure that they were “just right” for riding. He was a member of the Narrow Gauge Riders ATV Club and the North Franklin Sportsman Club. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved his “woods” and enjoyed spending lots of time snowmobiling, four wheeling, hunting, fishing and being with his numerous friends.
Eric served a five-year term on the Phillips Planning Board. He was a member of the Phillips/Strong Lions Club and was very active in his community. He was an excellent and loving father, spending hours fishing with his son and snowmobiling with his daughter. He will be so deeply missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his wife of 12 years, Lori Berry of Phillips; his children, Nicholas and Catherine Berry of Phillips and Christopher Haines of South Portland; his father, George “Muff” Berry and companion, Diana Hall, of Phillips; his mother, Joyce Berry of Phillips; his sister, Lisa Berry and fiance, Andrew Abbott, of Phillips; father in-law and mother in-law, Dennis and Brenda Presby of Avon; father in-law, John Lisherness and wife, Susan, of Avon; his nieces, Miranda Baxter of Phillips and Megan Smith of Avon; his nephew, Michael Haines of South Portland; his paternal grandparents, Earle and Lorraine Berry of Phillips; his aunts, Camellia Berry of Phillips and Lois Brown of Rumford; his uncles, Harland Brown of Alabama, Bobby Brown of Peru and David Brown of Mexico; his sister-in-law, Kim Haines of Avon; and brother in-law, Traci Lisherness of Jay.
He was predeceased by his maternal grandparents, Roger and Laura Brown; and his uncle, Stanley Berry.
