I feel there should be a Lewiston casino for many different reasons. I think that it would help the economy a lot by providing jobs, having to spend less gas money, and hotels would benefit from people who would come to the casino, bringing revenue to both the city and the state.

Building the casino would bring many jobs, for construction purposes and for working at the casino. According to the Twin City Times, the casino would bring more than 500 jobs, plus all the jobs that the local stores and hotels would need for all the people who would come to the casino, shop, and need a place to stay.

That would help the unemployment rate in Lewiston-Auburn.

The casino would be built locally, so instead of spending gas money going all the way to Connecticut, it could be a 10 minute ride to the casino and, with gas prices skyrocketing, it would save many people a lot of money.

Taxes from winning at the casino would benefit the people and the state.

People are going to gamble no matter what. If they want to gamble, they will, even if it means going to Connecticut.

If a casino is built here, most of the money people spend will stay in Maine, instead of going off to other places. If the money stays here, that will help Maine’s economy.
